Maddow Silent on Holding Bill Clinton Accountable

Bill Clinton Monica

There she goes with the double-standard.

The other night Rachel Maddow took to her MSNBC show and said this – of Roy Moore and the GOP-run Senate:

“If they wanted to solve their Roy Moore problem, the Republicans in the Senate could whip those votes and then publicly promise that an expulsion will happen. So they can threaten it, they can promise it, but if they wanted to be even more brave, if they really wanted to solve their problem, if they really wanted to get rid of the threat of Roy Moore actually becoming a sitting U.S. Senator, they could move not just from a threat to a promise but from a promise to a plan. There is no reason why the Senate could not start holding hearings tomorrow on the credibility of the allegations against Roy Moore and the question of whether or not he as a Senate candidate meets the ethical standards required of a United States senator.”

“The chances of Rachel holding Bill – and Hillary – Clinton to the same standards she holds Roy Moore are not just slim to none, they are less than zero.”

Recall that Juanita Broaddrick accusation of rape by Bill Clinton?  As Broaddrick described it to NBC’s Lisa Myers in 1999 Broaddrick said:

“I first pushed him away and just told him ‘No, please don’t do that….Then he tries to kiss me again. And the second time he tries to kiss me he starts biting my lip (she cries). Just a minute… He starts to, um, bite on my top lip and I tried to pull away from him. (crying) And then he forces me down on the bed. And I just was very frightened, and I tried to get away from him and I told him ‘No,’ that I didn’t want this to happen (crying) but he wouldn’t listen to me. …I told him ‘Please don’t.’ He was such a different person at that moment, he was just a vicious awful person…..it was a real panicky, panicky situation. I was even to the point where I was getting very noisy, you know, yelling to “Please stop.” And that’s when he pressed down on my right shoulder and he would bite my lip….When everything was over with, he got up and straightened himself, and I was crying at the moment and he walks to the door, and calmly puts on his sunglasses. And before he goes out the door he says “You better get some ice on that.” And he turned and went out the door.”

That recalled, let’s re-write that little sermon from Rachel Maddow this way:

“So they can threaten it, they can promise it, but if they wanted to be even more brave, if they really wanted to solve their problem, if they really wanted to get rid of the threat of Bill Clinton actually skating for his behavior, they could move not just from a threat to a promise but from a promise to a plan. There is no reason why the Senate could not start holding hearings tomorrow on the credibility of the allegations against Bill Clinton by Juanita Broaddrick and other women and the question of whether or not he as a former President meets the ethical standards required of a foundation head.”

The chances of Rachel holding Bill – and Hillary – Clinton to the same standards she holds Roy Moore are not just slim to none. They are less than zero.

Which says everything you need to know about Rachel and double-standards.
